Working at the heart of our dedicated team, you\'ll inspire and support colleagues, lead and develop high-performing teams, and drive service improvement initiatives that enhance quality, efficiency and customer experience. In this senior leadership role, you’ll work closely with senior colleagues, oversee effective business management across the service, and help shape our future strategic direction.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as an ambassador for the Carer & Provider Payment Support Team, promoting high standards and helping to build a positive reputation for the service.

  • Review and improve our processes, using data, evidence and insights to identify what works well, develop practical solutions, support informed decision-making, and implement effective new approaches where improvements are needed.

  • Lead on end-to-end processes, service developments and business improvement initiatives, ensuring priorities are managed effectively and deadlines are achieved.

  • Lead and develop managers and teams, creating a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and excellent customer service.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with providers, Direct Payment recipients and key stakeholders, leading the resolution of complex enquiries and complaints, while providing clear communication and promoting a collaborative approach across the wider service.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll be a confident and experienced leader with a strong understanding of payment processes and social care, who can inspire teams and deliver meaningful improvements across a complex operational service.

You’ll bring:

  • Substantial senior management experience leading and managing multiple sub‑teams, within a payment, financial administration, business support or related service environment.

  • A solid understanding and knowledge of social care payment processes and relevant legislation, with an understanding of person-centred approaches.

  • Excellent organisational, planning and business management skills with the ability to regularly assess and manage team priorities and risks, ensuring key deadlines are met.

  • A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to evaluate existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement and develop practical, effective solutions.

  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across a wide range of audiences.

  • A positive, adaptable and solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to lead through ambiguity and change, balance competing priorities, and deliver sustainable improvements within a complex operational environment.

  • Make a meaningful contribution to a service that supports the effective delivery of social care and makes a difference to colleagues, providers and Direct Payment recipients.

  • Have the opportunity to influence and improve how we work, helping to shape effective, joined‑up processes and ways of working to deliver lasting change.

  • Enjoy variety and challenge, with a role where no two days are the same, providing opportunities to use your judgment, initiative and problem‑solving skills.

  • Access to Health Assured's comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme to support your physical and mental wellbeing, including 24/7 telephone support, a suite of online resources, and legal and financial advice.

  • A competitive benefits package that includes generous annual leave entitlement, occupational sick pay, and access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
