Job summary

Matchtech is seeking a Prototype Wire Person at a specialist defence engineering site in Hertfordshire to produce high‑quality communication equipment. You will join a small team, ensuring all work meets required standards and delivery timescales.

Responsibilities include electro‑mechanical assembly, wiring, panel and rack wiring, soldering, and test‑box wiring, with a focus on security and quality. BPSS eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical/mechanical assembly and wiring, including prototype wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, following procedures accurately.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to quality standards.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain BPSS security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electro‑mechanical assembly.
• Build sub‑assemblies and complete systems in line with engineering drawings and build procedures.
• Monitor product quality throughout the build process, contributing to continuous improvement against production targets.
• Panel wiring.
• Cable assembly and crimping.
• Rack wiring.
• PCB assembly.
• Assembly and rework of components.
• Wiring of test boxes.
• Soldering, including through‑hole and surface‑mount components.
• Ensure the security of information in line with organisational information security policies.
