Job summary

Jackie Kerr Recruitment - Engineering and Manufacturing is seeking an Engineering Development Technician to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing company. You will work on the development, assembly and testing of complex electromechanical products, supporting projects from initial design through to manufacture and testing.

The role offers a variety of tasks including precision mechanical assembly, electrical and electronic wiring, fault finding and practical problem solving.

Qualifications

• Candidates should have hands-on experience with precision mechanical assembly.
• Experience wiring and testing electrical/electronic assemblies.
• Soldering and PCB assembly skills are required.
• Familiarity with electrical test equipment like multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Review designs and provide input on assembly, functionality, component selection and testability.
• Support the planning and preparation of prototype and development builds.
• Carry out precision mechanical assembly using drawings, BOMs and technical documentation.
• Assemble, connect and test electrical and electronic components including PCBs and wiring.
• Inspect components and assemblies for potential manufacturing, design or quality issues.
• Carry out development, functional and acceptance testing using specialist test equipment and software.
• Work with Project Engineers to investigate technical problems and develop practical solutions.
• Develop and document assembly procedures, testing processes and results for future production.
• Demonstrate strong practical and mechanical aptitude with a focus on quality.
