Job summary

TAE Power Solutions in Dudley requires a contract engineer to support HV/LV battery build, testing and teardown for a 6-month on-site assignment. You will work with the manufacturing and battery design teams to ensure safe, efficient assembly, test setup, and documentation updates.

The role demands hands-on electrical/mechanical skills, CAD interpretation, and a proactive problem-solving mindset. On-site five days a week, you will follow SSOW/HSE rules and contribute to design-for-manufacture

Qualifications

• At least 5 years experience in HV/LV battery environments within automotive.
• Experience building, testing and validating battery packs, subpacks & modules.
• Understanding of battery systems and high voltage safety.
• Hands-on skills interpreting CAD to obtain key dimensions.
• Experience in engineering discipline, mechanical and/or electrical.
• Organized, precise and pragmatic; able to work in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Follow Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and other HSE regulations.
• Prototype build background and ability to follow instructions to finish products.
• Use CAD to interpret requirements and extract dimensions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support build and testing.
• Define build/testing setups per specifications and provide technical support.
• Monitor testing equipment operating limits per specs.
• Feedback design lessons to support DFx improvements.
• Define battery build and commissioning processes.
• Perform HV battery electrical and mechanical checks during builds, reworks, and teardowns.
• Update and maintain battery build documentation.
• Prepare battery packs for End of Line testing.
• Maintain clean and organized working areas.
