Description du poste

Protein Scientist (Immunoassays & Protein Characterisation)

Deeside

Biologics | Protein Characterisation | Immunoassays

£30,000 - £35,000

Are you a scientist with experience in protein analytical techniques and biologics characterisation looking to play a key role in the development and release of innovative healthcare products?

The Opportunity

This is a varied role combining scientific review, analytical oversight and laboratory-based activities. A significant proportion of the role involves reviewing, interpreting and challenging analytical data generated by external laboratories, particularly in relation to protein characterisation and immunoassay testing.

You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and third-party testing laboratories to ensure analytical data is scientifically robust, regulatory compliant and supports product development and commercialisation activities.

As the business continues to expand its analytical capabilities, you’ll also play a key role in bringing additional test methods in-house and supporting future analytical development projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage stability programmes, including ICH, stress and transport studies.
  • Review, interpret and approve analytical data generated by external laboratories.
  • Provide scientific oversight of biologically-based analytical methods, including protein characterisation and immunoassay testing.
  • Coordinate analytical testing with third-party laboratories, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Generate, review and approve protocols, reports, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Author and maintain specifications for raw materials, packaging components and finished products.
  • Perform statistical analysis and trend evaluation of analytical and stability data.
  • Lead technical investigations, deviations and supplier-related quality events.
  • Support technology transfer and analytical method implementation activities.
  • Contribute to regulatory submissions and audit activities as a subject matter expert.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, quality and health & safety requirements.
Experience & Skills
Essential
  • Experience working within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology or life sciences environment.
  • Practical experience with protein analytical and biologics characterisation techniques, including:
    • SDS-PAGE
    • ELISA
    • Immunoassays
    • Immunoblotting/Western Blotting
    • Protein quantification techniques (e.g. Dumas)
  • Experience reviewing, interpreting and drawing scientific conclusions from analytical data.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with both internal teams and external laboratories.
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
  • Experience with HPLC, UPLC, LC-MS, FTIR or UV spectroscopy.
  • Stability study management experience.
  • Method development and validation experience.
  • Experience supporting regulatory submissions and audits.
Qualifications
  • BSc, MSc or equivalent experience in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, Molecular Biology or a related scientific discipline.
