Job summary

Rubicon Consulting is seeking a Lead Technical Application Engineer on a 6 Month Contract based in Staffordshire. You will provide engineering support, conduct customer site surveys, respond to technical enquiries, and deliver training for installed Protection and Control systems.

The role requires sound technical judgement, structured problem solving, and clear engagement with customers and internal teams to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

Qualifications

• Minimum BSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4–5 years of relevant project or service experience.
• Experience with Substation Automation Systems and protection relays.
• Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to travel within the UK and overseas.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and resolve customer application inquiries using engineering principles.
• Define robust technical solutions with sales teams.
• Provide technical support during project execution and testing.
• Support Protection and Control system tasks and guidance.
• Manage fault reports and customer communications.
• Support training activities and knowledge transfer.
• Build knowledge of new products and standards for service improvement.
