Job summary

Newcastle University is seeking a Research Technician to work on a Prostate Cancer UK funded project in the tumour immune microenvironment. Based in Newcastle University Medical School, you will support advanced mouse models, tissue processing, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and spatial profiling studies.

You will contribute to the organisation of the laboratory, manage reagents and stocks, ensure welfare compliance, and assist in training and safety documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience with health and safety procedures in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience with animal models of disease (mouse models).
  • Demonstrable experience with flow cytometry, PCR, ELISAs, sterile cell culture, histology or immunohistochemistry.
  • Excellent team working skills with good organisation and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day experimental work with human and mouse tissue/cells.
  • Familiarise with models of prostate cancer and conduct experiments under supervision, then independently.
  • Keep accurate records of all work under guidance of senior staff.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve problems.
  • Assist with safety paperwork and compliance tasks.
  • Oversee compliance tasks and maintain records.
