Centrepoint, the UK's leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Prospect Development Manager to join our Relationship Fundraising team based in London, Aldgate East.

About us

We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.

Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.

Our Relationship Fundraising team manages high-value giving across Trusts & Statutory, Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships. As our first dedicated Prospect Development Manager, you'll provide high-quality research and insight to help fundraisers prioritise approaches, identify routes into new donors and manage their pipelines more effectively.

You'll work with the Senior Trust & Statutory Fundraising Manager to agree clear priorities and a realistic delivery plan. This role has been carefully scoped for a part-time, fixed-term contract, with support from senior colleagues. You won't be expected to build a full prospect development function, and success will be measured by the quality and use of your research and insight, rather than income secured directly.

Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model, with a requirement to spend a minimum of 50% of your working time in the office. For most full-time colleagues, this means attending the office for five days over a two-week period. For colleagues on different contracts, including part-time or compressed contracts, this will be adjusted accordingly.

About you

You're an experienced prospect development professional who combines strategic thinking with practical research and delivery. You can turn complex information into clear, useful insight and build strong relationships across fundraising teams.

You're comfortable introducing new ways of working and prioritising a varied workload within the hours available. You share our commitment to ending youth homelessness and champion equality, diversity and inclusion.

What you'll be doing
  • Working with fundraising teams to understand their priorities, review existing tools and processes, and establish a focused prospect development framework.
  • Researching and qualifying prospects, particularly across Trusts & Statutory and Philanthropy, using network mapping to identify warm introductions and routes into new funders.
  • Deepening research on existing prospects and preparing accurate donor profiles and briefings for meetings and events.
  • Supporting pipeline reviews and recommending improvements to prospect data and tracking in Raiser's Edge.
  • Producing a monthly sector intelligence round-up to help teams identify trends and opportunities.
What we'd be looking for from you…
  • Demonstrable experience of prospect development within fundraising, ideally across more than one income stream.
  • Experience using research tools and techniques to identify, qualify and prioritise prospects, including assessing capacity, affinity and propensity to give.
  • Experience of network mapping and recommending or introducing new tools, sources or ways of working.
  • Confidence using a CRM such as Raiser's Edge to record and track prospect and pipeline information.
  • Excellent research, analytical and written communication skills, with the ability to produce concise, accurate briefings.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively, work collaboratively across teams and be realistic about delivery within the agreed hours and timeframe.
  • Knowledge of fundraising regulation and best practice relevant to prospect research and due diligence, including GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice.

Experience shaping a prospect development framework, familiarity with Factary or a comparable tool, and experience presenting research findings to senior stakeholders would be desirable.

Why join Centrepoint?

In return for your efforts you'll receive a competitive salary, excellent training and development, and a host of staff benefits including:

  • 25 days of annual leave per year, rising by one day per year to a maximum of 27 days, pro rata for part-time colleagues.
  • Healthcare cash plan covering the costs of a wide range of medical treatment, including dental, optical, complementary and alternative therapies.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Employer pension contributions of 5%.
  • Access to Cycle 2 Work loan scheme.
  • An interest‑free travel loan.

At Centrepoint we challenge the discrimination within society that contributes to youth homelessness, and we are just as committed to fairness and equality within Centrepoint itself. We are passionate about ensuring all of our colleagues are made to feel included in the work we do and that we value the rich diversity within the organisation.

We are an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications regardless of sex, gender, race, age, belief in any religion and none, gender identity, ethnic origin, class, sexuality, nationality, appearance, unrelated criminal activities, disability, responsibility for dependents, part time or shift workers, being HIV positive or living with AIDS, lived experience of homelessness or using young people’s services and any other matter which causes a person to be treated with injustice.

Centrepoint's policy is to recruit, employ and promote people on the basis of their suitability for the work to be performed, and to this end, our aim is to ensure that all applicants, employees and volunteers receive equal treatment.
