Job summary

Swindale Parks Recruitment is seeking a Proposals Engineer for a long-established precision engineering SME based in Fife. You will lead the estimating process from enquiry to submission, ensuring robust and compliant estimates aligned with business objectives.

The role involves interpreting drawings, conducting risk assessments, liaising with suppliers, and presenting recommendations to leadership. A strong background in engineering methods and data analysis is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering/manufacturing/machining or precision repair environments.
• Strong understanding of engineering methods and materials.
• Experience with Excel, cost modelling and data analysis.
• Proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Producing quotations: Interpreting drawings, specifications & technical documents; preparing detailed cost breakdowns covering labour, materials, equipment.
• Conducting risk & opportunity assessments.
• Engaging with suppliers & subcontractors, obtaining competitive quotes & evaluating proposals.
• Collaborate with managers, engineers and commercial teams.
• Present estimates & commercial recommendations to leadership.
• Supporting value engineering initiatives.

Proposals Engineer

Our client, a long-established precision engineering SME business based in Fife is seeking a Proposals Engineer responsible for the development, execution, tracking and communication of quoting activities for new and existing customers.

The Proposals Engineer will lead the estimating process from initial enquiry through to final submission, ensuring estimates are robust, compliant and aligned with business objectives.

• Producing quotations: Interpreting drawings, specifications & technical documents: Preparing detailed cost breakdowns covering labour, materials, equipment etc

We are seeking a Proposals Engineer with experience within an engineering, manufacturing, machining or precision repair environment. You will ideally have a strong understanding of engineering methods and materials, and be experienced in the use of Excel, cost modelling and data analysis

You should have a proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and have relevant qualifications in an engineering field.

Consideration will also be given to senior machinists seeking a career change.
