Job summary

Swindale Parks Recruitment is supporting a long-established precision engineering SME in Scotland to appoint a Proposals Engineer. You will lead quoting from initial enquiry through submission, interpreting drawings, specifications and technical documents to build robust costings.

Role requires coordinating with suppliers, engineers and commercial teams, presenting estimates to leadership, assessing risks and opportunities, and supporting value engineering while managing multiple bids

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, machining or precision repair environments.
• Strong understanding of engineering methods and materials.
• Proven ability to manage multiple bids concurrently.
• Experience with Excel, cost modelling and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating process from enquiry to final submission.

• Conduct risk and opportunity assessments for quotes.

Proposals Engineer

Our client, a long-established precision engineering SME business based in Fife is seeking a Proposals Engineer responsible for the development, execution, tracking and communication of quoting activities for new and existing customers.

The Proposals Engineer will lead the estimating process from initial enquiry through to final submission, ensuring estimates are robust, compliant and aligned with business objectives.

• Producing quotations: Interpreting drawings, specifications & technical documents: Preparing detailed cost breakdowns covering labour, materials, equipment etc
• Conducting risk & opportunity assessments
• Engaging with suppliers & subcontractors, obtaining competitive quotes & evaluating proposals
• Collaborate with managers, engineers and commercial teams
• Present estimates & commercial recommendations to leadership
• Supporting value engineering initiatives

We are seeking a Proposals Engineer with experience within an engineering, manufacturing, machining or precision repair environment. You will ideally have a strong understanding of engineering methods and materials, and be experienced in the use of Excel, cost modelling and data analysis

You should have a proven ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously and have relevant qualifications in an engineering field.

Consideration will also be given to senior machinists seeking a career change.
