Key Responsibilities
Empty Homes
- Identify and investigate long-term empty residential properties.
- Engage with owners to encourage occupation, refurbishment, or sale of empty homes.
- Develop action plans to bring properties back into use.
- Maintain accurate records of vacant properties and monitor progress.
- Provide advice on funding opportunities, grants, loans, and available support.
Property Standards
- Investigate complaints regarding poor housing conditions.
- Conduct property inspections and assess housing standards.
- Identify hazards, defects, and risks within residential properties.
- Provide advice and guidance to landlords, managing agents, and property owners.
- Monitor compliance with housing standards and relevant legislation.
Enforcement and Compliance
- Take appropriate action where housing standards are not met.
- Prepare reports, evidence, and documentation relating to property condition cases.
- Support enforcement activities and legal proceedings where required.
- Ensure compliance with relevant housing, health and safety, and environmental regulations.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop effective relationships with landlords, tenants, managing agents, developers, and community organisations.
- Negotiate solutions to improve property conditions and occupancy levels.
- Promote awareness of housing quality standards and empty homes initiatives.
- Respond to enquiries and provide professional advice to customers and stakeholders.
Case Management and Reporting
- Manage a varied caseload of property standards and empty homes cases.
- Maintain accurate records and databases.
- Produce reports, statistics, and performance information.
- Monitor progress against service objectives and targets.
