Job summary

Randstad Education is partnering with a major FE college group in South East London to recruit a Property Maintenance Assessor & Lecturer. The role combines two days on campus teaching PMO and three days mentoring Carpentry apprentices in local workplaces.

The position requires a Level 3 vocational qualification, 5+ years hands-on experience, and a Level 2 English/Maths. A PTTLS/TAQA/assessor qualification is desirable or a willingness to achieve them.

Qualifications

• A minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in Carpentry or Property Maintenance, backed by at least 5 years of hands-on industry experience.
• Level 2 (GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• A teaching qualification (PTTLS minimum) or assessor award (TAQA/A1/D32/D33) is desirable, or a willingness to work towards them.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and facilitate classroom and practical sessions for PMO apprentices two days per week.
• Serve as Carpentry Skills Coach three days per week, visiting workplaces and conducting progress reviews.
• Carry out initial learner assessments and establish learning plans; track progress toward EPA gateways.
• Conduct dynamic assessments, provide feedback, and ensure documentation of on- and off-the-job training.
• Build relationships with local employers to align opportunities with qualification frameworks.
• Maintain accurate electronic records and monitor timely success rates per college quality systems.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Serve as a dedicated Carpentry Skills Coach three days per week, visiting apprentices in their workplaces and conducting progress reviews on campus or online.

• Carry out initial learner assessments, establish individual learning plans, and continuously track progress toward End-Point Assessment (EPA) gateways.

• Conduct dynamic assessments, provide constructive feedback, and ensure apprentices document their required on-and-off-the-job training.

• Build strong relationships with local employers and line managers to align workplace opportunities with qualification frameworks.

• Maintain accurate electronic administrative records and monitor timely success rates in accordance with college quality systems.

What We Are Looking For

• Qualifications & Experience: A minimum Level 3 vocational qualification in Carpentry or Property Maintenance, backed by at least 5 years of recent, hands‑on industry experience. Level 2 (GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent) in English and Maths. A teaching qualification (PTTLS minimum) or assessor award (TAQA/A1/D32/D33) is desirable, or a willingness to work towards them.

• Characteristics: Outstanding communication skills, strong administration habits for record-keeping, and an approachable, patient mentoring style.

• Transport & Commute: A full UK driving licence and access to a personal vehicle are required for visiting apprentices at local workplace sites.
