Job summary

Gemini Recruitment is assisting a leading law firm in Birmingham to recruit a Litigation Solicitor for a permanent role. The team handles complex property disputes for institutional landlords, developers and individuals, offering exposure to both commercial and residential matters.

You will report to the department Director, manage a varied caseload, and work within a client-focused, results-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor with litigation experience in private practice; property litigation and Legal Aid work is desirable.
• Must have a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying.
• Committed team player with ability to foster cross referrals and positive change.
• Excellent client care skills and ability to manage sensitive client matters.
• Excellent networking and communication skills to market the company.
• Experience with publicly funded litigation work and privately funded cases is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Reporting directly to the department Director.
• Professional proactive approach, strong client care skills and a sensitive and sympathetic understanding of clients’ needs.
• Responsible for all aspects of Litigation work and on occasions, where appropriate providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members.
• Ability to manage appropriate caseload types and complexities.
• Boundary disputes – resolving neighbours' property line disagreements.
• Landlord and tenant issues – arrears, breaches, evictions, renewals.
• Rights of way and easements – advise on access rights.
• Nuisance and trespass claims – property use interference.
• Disputes over property ownership – co-ownership and trusts.
• Development issues – planning and covenants.
• Disrepair – landlord and tenant matters.
• Mortgage repossessions
• Commercial property matters – lease issues and arrears.
• Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases.
• Dealing with correspondence.
• Maintaining time costing procedures.
• Ensuring compliance with file management.
