Job summary

Myerson Limited (trading as Myerson Solicitors) in the North West seeks an experienced Property Litigation lawyer. You will handle landlord and tenant disputes, development site work and related advisory matters for owner-managed businesses, developers and investors.

The ideal candidate has at least 8 years' PQE at a national or leading regional practice, with excellent client relationship skills and a collaborative approach within a team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Handle commercial landlord and tenant portfolio disputes.
• Advise on forfeiture and possession claims.
• Deal with interim and terminal dilapidations claims.
• Manage disputes involving insolvent tenants.
• Provide strategic advice on development site acquisitions.
• Assist with easement disputes including rights of way and light.
• Handle restrictive covenant disputes.
• Oversee Development Agreement, Option Agreement and Overage disputes.
• Manage residential landlord and management company disputes.
• Act on Trusts of Land disputes and related matters.

The team

Our Property Litigation team handles the full range of property disputes. Our clients are predominantly owner-managed small, medium and large enterprises in the North West and further afield. The team act for owner occupiers, investors, developers and individual property owners. The work is interesting and seldom straightforward.

Typical matters include:

• Commercial landlord and tenant portfolio management disputes


• Forfeiture and possession claims


• Interim and Terminal dilapidations claims


• Dealing with insolvent tenants


• Strategic advice on development site acquisitions


• Easement disputes including rights of way and rights of light


• Restrictive Covenant disputes


• Development Agreement, Option Agreement and Overage disputes


• Residential landlord and management company disputes


• Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees disputes


• Residential lease extension and freehold purchases

Who we are looking for

The position would suit somebody with a good academic background and training who wants to develop their career. They will be required to work well with experienced professionals within a team orientated environment whilst maintaining high work standards. Candidates are required to have excellent knowledge of all areas of property litigation and experience of providing high quality advice. The successful candidate will have at least 8 years' PQE working at a national, or leading regional practice.

Candidates will need to demonstrate high levels of technical skill and the ability to maintain strong client relationships. A passion for team and collaborative working is essential. The team works collaboratively and with a culture of support and development for all. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within the team and be expected to contribute enthusiastically to the success of the department and development of junior members of the team.

The team works closely with our Real Estate and Residential Property teams. Candidates are also required to demonstrate how they can promote the property litigation services and other legal services offered by the firm to existing and new target clients and obtain referrals from contacts and referrers.
