Job summary

Weightmans is recruiting a lawyer to join the Local Government Team in Birmingham or Leicester to handle high-value property damage claims and related casualty work. The role involves assisting with pre-action and litigation, managing caseloads, and developing autonomy for larger matters.

The successful candidate will support on disclosure, witness and expert evidence, and liaise with clients, opponents and courts while meeting deadlines and targets.

Qualifications

• Experience handling or assisting on property damage or casualty claims.
• Interest in technical disputes and litigation.
• Ability to manage own caseload and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist on predominantly PL property damage claims involving residential and commercial properties and infrastructure.
• Support senior fee earners with case management, legal research, drafting witness statements and instructions to experts and counsel.
• Attend client meetings and court hearings.
• Respond promptly to correspondence from clients and other parties, with or without supervision.
• Meet set financial and chargeable targets and support business development activities.
