Property Associates/Senior Associates (4 yrs+ PQE)

The Brief:

We are currently looking to recruit Scottish qualified property lawyers (4 years+ PQE) to join our top-ranked team in Scotland (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Glasgow offices).

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a wide variety of commercial property transactions. You will start by working with some of the highest profile investors both UK and internationally on high-profile commercial developments in the office, logistics, retail, student accommodation, build-to-rent, and infrastructure sectors. Real Estate Finance work and large-scale asset management are also areas of interest. You are not expected to have experience in all these sectors but should be interested and eager to learn.

You will have the opportunity to be part of transactional teams supporting clients with their real estate requirements across the UK, working alongside colleagues from our other offices, and benefiting from our internal legal support network and advanced delivery team. There may also be opportunities to become dual qualified in English property in the future.

About the Team:

You will join a team of over 40 fee earners in Scotland, listed as Tier 1 in Legal 500 and Chambers in Commercial Property.

Our Scottish property development and investment team is led by partners Katharine Hardie, Paul Connolly, Martin Devine, Lesley-Anne Todd, Russell Munro, and Ewan Alexander. You will be involved in some of the best deals in the market, with support from experienced property lawyers dedicated to successful transactions. We provide tailored training and support, with opportunities for career and skills development.

The work includes high-end investment and occupier deals for prominent UK and international corporates, as well as retail investments, urban regeneration schemes, strategic developments, property finance, and other major projects.

Work Highlights:

• Cutting-edge properties: Acting for HFD Group on development and sale of 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow, Scotland’s largest investment deal of 2022, including a grade A office space with a rooftop running track.
• Climate change: Working with Motor Fuel Group and Ionity on EV charging hubs across the UK.
• Major regeneration projects: Supporting Winchburgh Developments’ £1bn residential project, involving 3400 new houses, and working with Shawfair Developments on another large residential project near Edinburgh.
• Regenerating Glasgow: Assisting Barclays with their campus development in Glasgow, a significant property deal.
• Innovative projects: Using technology and AI to assist in acquiring the Bizspace portfolio with over 70 properties.
• Iconic buildings: Acting for Strathclyde Pension Fund on Buchanan Street properties, and for Glasgow City Council on Buchanan Galleries redevelopment.
• Working with household names: For clients like Uniqlo, Mint Velvet, Office, French Connection, and logistics companies like Harper Collins and Legal and General on various projects.
• Green ports/logistics projects: Supporting Forth Ports and other investors in renewable energy and port infrastructure projects across Scotland.
