Job Purpose

Internal job title: Property Administrator

Advertised Salary: £27,000 + Trust benefits

Location: Remote working with hub allocation when required.

The Canal & River Trust generates essential revenue from our property business to care for the canals and rivers. We are currently seeking a Property Administrator to support our Investment & Commercial team.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the Estates team, utilizing technical knowledge of systems, processes, financial, and legal requirements to ensure safe, efficient operations in compliance with standards.

The postholder will also ensure that processes and business systems are used effectively, and records are updated following transactions and amendments.

Location

This role is based on remote working, with occasional attendance at one of our main hubs for team meetings and collaboration. You should be able to reasonably commute to one of the following hubs:

Leeds, Ellesmere Port, Burnley, Newark, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Gloucester.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
About the role
  • Assist in creating, tracking, and entering data—property or finance—on behalf of the team.
  • Support Surveyors in collecting relevant property records during disposals.
  • Assist in internal consultation processes on property disposals.
  • Support post-disposal activities, including utility and council tax/business rates transfers.
  • Ensure property records are stored correctly in both paper and electronic systems.
  • Liaise with colleagues to update property insurance information after disposals.
  • Display the Trust values and behaviors consistently.
About you
Technical:
  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent (e.g., NVQ Level III Business Administration) is advantageous.
  • Confident communicator with excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
General:
  • Attention to detail.
  • Enjoy administrative work and supporting others.
  • Well-organized and structured in your approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with SAP is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently on predefined tasks.
  • Comply with Health & Safety policies and standards, reporting incidents as required.
  • Assess risks and adapt work methods accordingly.
  • Be aware of your responsibilities regarding safeguarding and promote safe environments.
