Job summary

Sedgwick is hiring a Domestic Property Loss Adjuster to cover Berkshire/Guilford. You will manage a caseload of domestic property damage claims, visiting customers at their homes, coordinating contractor visits and finalising settlements.

The role blends field work with desk reporting from office or home, offering flexible working arrangements. Ideal candidates have a full UK driving licence, insurance knowledge, excellent communication skills, and strong problem-solving and time-management

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving Licence is essential to travel by car.
• Understanding of how a home insurance policy works and domestic property basics.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with policyholders, insurers, contractors, etc.
• Ability to identify and solve problems quickly and effectively.
• Strong time management to plan and handle multiple claims.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of domestic property damage claims across Berkshire/Guilford.
• Visit customers at their homes and coordinate contractor visits.
• Prepare comprehensive settlements and close claims.
• Balance office work with home-based reporting and documentation.
• Travel as needed and maintain timely communication with stakeholders.

We have a fantastic opportunity for Domestic Loss Adjusters across the Berkshire/Guilford area.

As a Domestic Loss Adjuster, you'll manage a caseload of domestic property damage claims across the Berkshire/Guilford area, from visiting customers at their homes, co-ordinating visits from contractors, to finally settling each claim.

Imagine yourself stepping into people's lives during some of their most unsettling moments: a burst pipe that flooded the kitchen, a fire that scorched the living room, trees fallen through the roof from storm damage. You'll be there, the calming presence amidst the chaos, then returning to your desk at Sedgwick surrounded by your colleagues, or to your laptop at home, to compile a comprehensive report.

Along with visits to claimants’ properties, we are happy for your base to be a balance of our office and your home.

The skills you will have when you apply:

• A full UK Driving Licence: It is essential you can travel by car
• Insurance knowledge: Have an understanding of how a home insurance policy operates and the basic make up of a domestic property.
• Excellent communication skills: You'll speak with and write to policyholders, insurers, contractors, and more. You’ll explain complex details clearly and negotiate fair settlements for all.
• Problem-solving abilities: You should be able to identify and solve problems efficiently
• Time management: As you’ll be planning your own week you must effectively manage your time, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines. You will be required to handle multiple claims simultaneously.

What is helpful, but not vital, in your application:

• Technology: Use of Apple software such as iPads, or other tablets

• Comprehensive Training: You'll receive all the Sedgwick-specific training needed to excel in your role.
• Professional Development: We are committed to helping you work towards the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters' Cert CILA qualification.
