Job summary

Fugro in Aberdeen is seeking a Project Surveyor to deliver positioning and construction support projects across NORUK. You will support tender through offshore execution, providing survey planning and coordination with project teams, clients and offshore crews.

The role requires more than five years of offshore survey experience, MRICS/MCInstCES progression, and a strong grasp of marine survey principles. Travel offshore as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geomatics or equivalent qualification.
• MRICS or MCInstCES accreditation or progression towards accreditation preferred.
• 5+ years offshore survey, positioning or construction support experience.
• Experience as Senior Surveyor or Party Chief or similar offshore role.
• Strong understanding of marine survey principles, positioning systems and construction support activities.
• Experience with survey spread definition, sensor selection and operational readiness planning.
• Knowledge of survey acquisition systems, quality control, and reporting workflows.
• Ability to prepare technical documentation, specifications and project procedures.
• Commercial awareness and ability to identify scope changes and risks.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Report to Service Line Manager PCS NORUK and work with project managers and offshore teams.
• Review client specifications, ITTs and tender documents for requirements.
• Contribute to tender submissions with technical write-ups and survey methodologies.
• Provide survey expertise from preparation to close-out of projects.
• Develop and maintain project-specific survey procedures and reporting templates.
• Define survey spread requirements, equipment configurations and redundancy.
• Coordinate readiness with Equipment, Operations and offshore teams.
• Attend mobilisations, demobilisations, meetings and site visits when required.
• Promote QHSSE excellence and Fugro standards.
• Support data quality, QA/QC, and project close-out.

Job Description Join Fugro as a Project Surveyor and play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of Positioning & Construction Support projects across the NORUK region. Supporting projects from tender through to offshore execution and close-out, you'll provide technical expertise, survey planning and operational support to ensure safe, efficient and high-quality project delivery. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced survey professional who enjoys combining technical knowledge with project coordination and stakeholder engagement. This role is based in Aberdeen with offshore travel when required.

Your role and responsibilities:

You’ll be reporting to the Service Line Manager PCS NORUK, with functional reporting to the Chief Surveyor. Working closely with Project Managers, offshore survey teams, Operations, Survey Support, Equipment and Logistics, Data Processing, QHSSE and client representatives, you’ll help deliver technically robust and commercially successful projects. Reviewing client specifications, ITTs and tender documentation to identify technical, operational and resource requirements. Supporting tender submissions through technical write‑ups, survey methodologies and survey spread concepts. Providing survey expertise throughout project preparation, execution and close‑out phases. Developing and maintaining project‑specific survey procedures, work instructions, mobilisation documentation and reporting templates. Ensuring project teams fully understand survey scopes, deliverables, constraints and technical risks. Defining survey spread requirements, equipment configurations, sensor selection and redundancy requirements. Coordinating with Equipment, Operations and offshore teams to support project readiness and successful mobilisation. Attending mobilisations, demobilisations, client meetings and site visits when required. Promoting QHSSE excellence and ensuring compliance with Fugro standards, project requirements and integrated management systems. Reviewing survey reporting workflows and ensuring deliverables meet client specifications and quality standards. Supporting data quality, quality control, reporting consistency and efficient project close‑out. Identifying opportunities to improve survey quality, operational efficiency and ways of working across the business. Sharing lessons learned, technical knowledge and best practice with project and survey teams.

What you’ll need to thrive in this role:

A degree in Geomatics or an equivalent qualification. Professional accreditation such as MRICS or MCInstCES, or a desire to work towards professional accreditation. More than five years of significant offshore survey, positioning or construction support experience. Previous experience working as a Senior Surveyor, Party Chief or in a similar senior offshore survey role. Strong understanding of marine survey principles, positioning systems and construction support activities. Experience with survey spread definition, sensor selection and operational readiness planning. Knowledge of survey acquisition systems, quality control processes and reporting workflows. Experience preparing technical documentation, specifications and project procedures. Commercial awareness and the ability to identify scope changes, variations and project risks. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and support project delivery across multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to QHSSE, quality assurance and continuous improvement. Willingness to travel at short notice to support client meetings, project mobilisations, site visits and operational requirements.

Desirable experience:

ROV survey operations. LBL and USBL positioning systems. INS‑aided positioning. Dimensional control and metrology. Lay support, trenching support, rig moves and well setting. Data processing, digital reporting and remote operations experience.
