National Highways is recruiting for two Project Support Officers to join the A66 NTP in Major Projects. You will support delivery of capital investment projects, coordinating project and administrative tasks for time, quality and budget compliance across multiple offices in Leeds, Manchester, and Penrith.

A minimum of two days per week in the office or on site is required. Two positions: one permanent and one 12‑month fixed‑term contract.

• Develop and sustain effective working relationships with key stakeholders in National Highways and the supply chain.
• Enable and support information management including maintaining high-quality project products and records per National Highways policies and legal requirements.
• Support project/programme governance and assurance requirements including stage gate assessments, independent audits, and project health checks.
• Assist with project management products including project plans, risk registers, action logs, benefits registers, and stakeholder engagement plans.

About the job.

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for two Project Support Officers to join the A66 NTP in Major Projects. As a Project Support Officer, you will support and enable the delivery of capital investment projects in the Major Projects directorate. The broad scope of this role encompasses the delivery and coordination of project and administrative support to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to time, quality and within budget.

The position will be based from either of our Leeds, Manchester, or Penrith offices; however, travel to other offices/sites within the region will be required, and a minimum of two days per week will be expected in the office or on site.

Please note that we are recruiting for two positions. One of these opportunities is permanent and one is for a 12-month fixed-term contract. Candidates will be considered for both permanent and fixed-term opportunities unless they indicate a preference during the recruitment process.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
