Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Quantity Surveyor responsible for managing a portfolio of projects with minimal supervision to ensure value for money and contractual compliance. You could work on projects ranging in value from £25,000 to £200 million during your career at Thames Water.

What you’ll be doing as a Project Quantity Surveyor

1. Providing Commercial Assurance of Capital Delivery Contracts.
2. Challenging, negotiating, and agreeing Project Tenders within your portfolio.
3. Ensuring timely payments according to contract terms for your projects.
4. Assessing the Quantum of Change and/or Extension of Time under relevant Contracts.
5. Monitoring processes to maintain contractual compliance and advising stakeholders on non-performance and corrective actions.
6. Attending monthly site meetings.
7. Supporting budget management and project spending optimization.
8. Auditing and agreeing on Project Accounts.
9. Assisting the Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor with Claims resolution.

Location: Reading or Maple Lodge - Hybrid.
Hours: 36 per week.

What you should bring to the role

1. Extensive experience in managing a portfolio of projects pre and post-contract.
2. A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
3. A desire to achieve Chartered Status.
4. Negotiation and dispute-resolution skills.
5. Understanding of water regulation, including OFWAT Price Review methodology.
6. Strong relationship-building skills.
7. Excellent communication skills.
8. Full UK Driving license and own transport.
