Job summary

Streamline Search Ltd in Halifax is seeking a Project Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial activities on fit-out and refurbishment projects across healthcare, industrial, retail and education sectors.

You will prepare BoQs, lead tender submissions, manage changes, monitor costs, and build strong client/subcontractor relationships. A relevant QS qualification (RICS preferred) and proven project lifecycle delivery are essential. Car allowance and performance bonus on offer.

Qualifications

  • The right candidate will hold a relevant Quantity Surveying Qualification or equivalent.
  • RICS qualification or association is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience with fit out or commercial refurbishment projects.
  • Strong analytical, numeracy, diary management and organisational skills.
  • In depth knowledge of procurement, tendering and contract strategy.
  • High level of commercial awareness and understanding of value engineering.
  • Clear, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Proven track record in managing through the full project lifecycle, from inception to final account.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost plans, providing expert commercial advice to minimise scope changes and budget overruns.
  • Deliver end-to-end commercial management across projects, from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Produce detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs) from drawings and specifications.
  • Lead tender submissions, pricing, bid analysis, value engineering and strategy development.
  • Manage change control processes, value and variations with documentation.
  • Administer contract documentation and monitor contractual obligations.
  • Provide strategic commercial and cost advice for informed project decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts, identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Conduct regular nationwide site visits to verify progress and inform decisions.
  • Uphold health and safety culture and compliance with policies.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting.
  • Support procurement, evaluation and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.

Salary: GBP50000 - GBP60000 per annum

Project Quantity Surveyor

Location: Halifax, West Yorkshire
Hours: 8am – 5pm, Monday – Friday
Salary: Up to £60,000 dependent on experience, plus Car allowance and performance-based bonus
Holiday: 36 Days Annual leave incl. bank holidays

Our client is a long-established UK construction company specialising in high-performance construction, fit-out, and refurbishment projects across the healthcare, industrial, retail, and education sectors. They have built a strong reputation for delivering technically complex projects, particularly within medical and healthcare environments. The business offers a full turnkey service, including bespoke joinery manufacturing, design and build solutions, and specialist medical fitouts tailored to each client’s requirements. With a strong focus on quality, reliability, and long-term client relationships, they are known for delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to exceptionally high standards across the UK.

Due to company growth, they are looking to take on a project quantity surveyor. In this role you’ll be responsible for delivering end-to-end commercial management across construction projects, including cost planning, tender submissions, contract administration, procurement and budget control. You will provide strategic cost advice, manage change processes, mitigate financial risks and build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to support successful project delivery.

Position Duties

  • Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost plans, providing expert commercial advice to minimise scope changes and budget overruns.
  • Deliver end-to-end commercial management across projects, ensuring effective cost control from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Produce detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs), measurements and take-offs from technical drawings and specifications.
  • Lead tender submissions, including pricing, bid analysis, value engineering and the development of competitive winning strategies.
  • Manage change control processes, ensuring variations are accurately valued, negotiated, approved and recorded.
  • Administer contract documentation and monitor contractual obligations to ensure compliance by all project stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic commercial and cost advice to support informed project and business decision-making.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams.
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and forecasts, proactively identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
  • Conduct regular nationwide site visits to assess project progress, verify works and support commercial decision-making.
  • Promote and uphold a strong health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records and ensure adherence to internal systems, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Support the procurement, evaluation and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers to secure best value and project performance

Position Requirements

Position Remuneration

  • Salary up to £60,000 plus and a yearly performance-based bonus
  • Car allowance provided to ensure the travel required by the role can be undertaken
  • Regular working hours, Monday to Friday
