Project Quality Manager – UK's Largest Power Upgrade Works

Location: Birmingham, At Albans or Port Talbot (Multiple Infrastructure Power Sites)

Sector: Power | Infrastructure | Energy

Discipline: Electrical | Quality Assurance

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Be part of the UK's most ambitious power infrastructure upgrade. We're seeking a Project Quality Manager with an electrical background to lead assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement across high-profile energy projects. You'll shape quality culture and performance, ensuring delivery excellence and customer satisfaction.

Your Role

As a senior member of the project team, you will:

  • Implement and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) to meet project, regulatory, and client standards.
  • Champion a proactive “Get it Right” culture; identify and act on quality risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Deliver engaging quality training, inductions, and toolbox talks to improve site productivity and prevent errors.
  • Guide the development and review of Quality Plans, ITPs, Method Statements, and supplier documentation.
  • Monitor and manage Non-Conformances (NCs), supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Lead Category 1 NCR investigations and Quality Incident Event Process (QIEP).
  • Ensure effective digital quality records, lifetime traceability (LTQRs), and progressive handover.
  • Support requirement management across the lifecycle, ensuring compliance and clarity.
  • Collaborate with clients, auditors, and teams, providing transparent performance reporting and KPI tracking.
  • Conduct internal audits, support ISO certifications (ISO 9001 / BS 99001), and drive sector-wide improvements.

What You'll Bring

  • ~10 years' experience in Quality leadership within regulated, high-assurance sectors (Power, Nuclear, Rail, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems: substations, GIS, SGTs, overhead lines, and cabling.
  • Expertise in ISO 9001 and related standards (e.g., ISO 10005), with a strong risk and opportunity mindset.
  • Confident communicator with proven ability to influence across all levels—clients, contractors, and leadership.
  • Skilled in team management, audit processes, and digital construction tools (e.g., Fieldview, Asite, Trimble).
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver in complex, deadline-driven environments.

Desirable Qualifications

  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal or Lead Auditor (or working towards).
  • Chartered CQI member (or other recognised engineering/quality body).
