Job Description

Job Title: Project Planning and Controls Lead

Location: Falmer (hybrid working)

Salary: up to £60,000 depending on experience

Job Summary: This role involves line management of a small team of controllers and planners supporting a capital programme. It requires working closely with Programme Managers weekly to support delivery within budget and time constraints.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the team’s productivity and support their effective work within deadlines.
  2. Collaborate with Programme Managers weekly to support programme management within budget and time requirements.
  3. Represent the team in meetings with Senior Internal Stakeholders and external contractors, communicating ideas, updates, and challenges.
  4. Build professional relationships with internal teams to support data provision for external regulatory boards, including managing meetings for data agreement and sign-off.
  5. Provide key information for monthly reporting to aid decision-making on ongoing projects.
  6. Offer analytical insights for pre-month-end management reports in delivery and PMO.
  7. Analyze data from Southern Water contractors and facilitate monthly meetings on this data.
  8. Read, analyze, and present reports to higher management monthly.
  9. Manage a team of Capital Planners and Project Controllers.

Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the NEC suite of conditions of contract.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working within a PMO.
  • Stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience with complex project delivery cycles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  • High attention to detail, data handling, and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Flexible, proactive, self-motivated, capable of managing multiple streams.
  • Creative thinking for continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of APM / Prince II methodology.
