Job description

Job Title: Project Planner

Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Warrington (hybrid)
Start Date: TBC, Depending on Clearance

The nuclear defence sector in the UK is vital for maintaining security and strategic stability. Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop standardised and structured P6 planning work packages, using AIMS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Client Procedures and referent knowledge.
  2. Create project-specific schedules that clearly identify the project processes and linking of activities for multifunctional project team interfaces.
  3. Iterate, with increasing detail, through the life of the projects — up to, and including, Level 4 for offsite and onsite execution activities.
  4. Assist in compiling and maintaining Planning ‘norms’ from statistical data and participate in the methodology to ensure consistent and meaningful data collection.
  5. Develop the programme scope and schedule, ensuring alignment across Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation (EC&I), HVAC teams, and Partner Contractors.
  6. Develop supplier scopes and procurement requirements.
  7. Optimise the P6 programme, including all interfaces with suppliers, client functions, and stakeholders.
  8. Provide regular feedback to Project Management and relevant functions.
  9. Manage the cost and resource-loaded P6 Programme.
  10. Monitor the P6 programme across work packs and interfaces to ensure pre-construction and project execution tasks meet client requirements.
  11. Highlight and proactively manage Variations in collaboration with the Work Pack team.
Key Requirements
  1. Time Served Apprentice / NVQ Level 2 / C&G or suitable construction engineering experience.
  2. HNC/HND (or equivalent) in engineering or project management.
  3. Proficient in P6 scheduling, including cost/resource loading techniques.
  4. Knowledge of construction methodologies.
  5. Commercial awareness.
  6. Good behavioural traits.
  7. IT skills.
  8. Able to achieve SC clearance status readily.
  9. Minimum of 5 years senior planning experience.
  10. CCNSG Safety Passport / IOSH Managing Safety Certificate (shortform).
  11. ECITB SMTDS / NVQ Level 3 or 4 ACE.
  12. Degree (or equivalent) in engineering or project management.
  13. APM/ACostE accreditation or equivalent.
  14. Previous nuclear construction senior delivery roles.
  15. Currently SC in Civil Nuclear.
  16. 5-10 years planning experience.
