Job description

Alvarium Talent has been retained by a fast-growing project management consultancy seeking a Project Planner to support the successful delivery of complex projects across various UK-based clients.

The client operates across multiple sectors, including defence, industrials, manufacturing, infrastructure, and energy. This role is crucial in driving project performance, ensuring alignment with schedules, budgets, and stakeholder expectations. Location: UK (London/Manchester/Bristol)

Key Responsibilities
  1. Schedule Management – Timeline Oversight: Ensure project schedules are realistic, regularly updated, and manage dependencies and critical paths to prevent delays.
  2. Performance Reporting – Progress Tracking: Monitor progress against milestones and report KPIs to stakeholders.
  3. Risk Management – Identification and Mitigation: Collaborate with teams to identify risks related to finance, scheduling, and resources, and develop mitigation strategies.
  4. Financial Management and Cost Control: Support budgeting, forecasting, and ongoing cost monitoring.
  5. Tools and Systems Utilisation: Manage and optimise project management software such as ERP systems, Primavera, or MS Project.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Ideal candidates will possess a blend of the following (not all are required):

  • Experience in project scheduling, planning, cost control, and risk management
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., ERP, Primavera, Open Plan, MS Project)
  • Relevant qualifications such as APM PMQ/PPQ, PRINCE2, or PMP (preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, high-pressure environment
  • Willingness to travel when necessary
  • SC Clearance is advantageous but not mandatory; the ability to be security cleared is essential (British national with 5 years of continuous residency)
