Job summary

Salter Grange Limited is recruiting a Project Operations Manager on behalf of a leading international engineering and construction contractor. You will take overall responsibility for all works on site and sit within the project leadership team to ensure safe, high-quality delivery against programme and budget.

You will drive site performance, coordinate with the client and supply chain, and manage risks while maintaining a strong emphasis on health, safety and quality throughout the project

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or recognised trade qualification.
• 10+ years' experience managing large construction projects as a General Contractor.
• Thorough knowledge of Civil, Structural and Architectural packages, with a good understanding of mechanical and electrical interfaces.
• Strong communication, IT and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure and on your own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for all works on site, leading pre-planning meetings with site and supply chain teams.
• Sit within the project leadership team, driving delivery of project KPIs through site walks and risk reviews.
• Maintain a positive relationship with the client team, actioning requests and delivering on contractual obligations.
• Plan site set-up and logistics for each delivery stage in line with budgets.
• Champion a strong EHS and quality-first culture on site and close out actions from huddles and reviews.
• Ensure staff are trained and appointed to manage high-risk activities such as lifting, confined space entry and temporary works.
• Lead development of the project target schedule with the site planner and monitor commercial awareness with the commercial team.

Salter Grange is recruiting on behalf of our client, a leading international engineering and construction contractor delivering major data centre and mission-critical projects across Europe.

Our client builds and manages complex engineering and construction projects for some of the world's leading corporations, delivering across sectors including Enterprise and Hyperscale Data Centres, Advanced Technology & Life Sciences, and Fire Protection.

They're now seeking a Project Operations Manager to take overall responsibility for all works on site, sitting within the project leadership team alongside the Project Director/Manager and Commercial Manager to ensure safe, high-quality delivery against programme and budget.

Project Operations Manager Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for all works on site, leading pre-planning meetings with the site and supply chain teams to ensure full compliance with company and client procedures.
• Sit within the project leadership team alongside the Project Director/Manager and Commercial Manager, driving delivery of project KPIs through weekly site walks and monthly risk/CRR reviews.
• Maintain a positive, responsive relationship with the client team, promptly actioning requests and delivering on contractual obligations.
• Plan site set-up and logistics through each delivery stage, ensuring adequate facilities, access and resourcing are in place in line with agreed budgets.
• Champion a strong EHS and quality-first culture on site, including close-out of actions raised through daily huddles, collaborative planning and leadership team reviews.
• Ensure appropriately trained and appointed staff are in place to manage high-risk activities such as lifting operations, confined space entry and temporary works.
• Lead development of the project target schedule with the site planner, and maintain up-to-date commercial awareness in collaboration with the commercial team, flagging scope changes for the change management process.

Project Operations Manager Requirements:

• Engineering degree or recognised trade qualification.
• 10+ years' experience managing large construction projects as a General Contractor.
• Thorough knowledge of Civil, Structural and Architectural packages, with a good understanding of mechanical and electrical installations and interfaces.
• Proven ability to lead and manage a team, setting expectations, delegating effectively and reviewing performance.
• Flexibility in working patterns where necessary.
• Strong communication, IT and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and on your own initiative.
