Job description

Due to retirement, we have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Project Officer at Coops Foyer – supported accommodation for young people aged 16-25.

The role is based at Coops Foyer in Wigan Town Centre and will move to our new Wigan Foyer in early 2026 when the development is completed. The new site is located on the outskirts of the town centre next to the Leeds and Liverpool canal, offering a scenic location to work and live. It will feature holistic spaces for young people to engage in activities, including a well-being garden and collaborative working spaces.

Coops Foyer is accredited with the Foyer Federation, emphasizing an asset-based approach called Advantaged Thinking, encouraging young people to aim high, dream big, and fulfill their ambitions.

We want to recruit a passionate Project Officer who shares our enthusiasm.

What will my working week look like?

Project Officers work on a 3-week rolling rota:

  1. Week A: 8am-4pm
  2. Week B: 11am-7pm
  3. Week C: 12noon-8pm

They are part of a multidisciplinary team supporting young people who can stay with us for up to 2 years. The role includes some short periods of lone working, with potential for hours outside Monday to Friday in the future.

Every day varies; responsibilities may include delivering 1-to-1 support sessions on life skills, reviewing action plans, assisting with medical appointments, contributing to multi-agency meetings, or facilitating group activities.

What will I be responsible for?

The primary responsibility is providing key worker support to young people, working through support and action plans to help them develop independent living skills.

We value personality diversity, reflecting the varied backgrounds of our young people in our staff team.

What would make me stand out?

Successful candidates will have:

  • An ability to engage with a range of young people
  • Tenacity to seek the best outcomes for young people

Ideally, you will also be:

  • Innovative and creative in your approach
  • Resilient and flexible in dealing with others

This role suits someone who enjoys managing their own diary and caseload and interacting with many people daily.
