Better Society Capital seeks a proactive Investment Office role in London. You will help run the annual investment calendar, support governance cycles, and coordinate with fund managers using Salesforce, Notion, and other tools.
The role emphasizes process improvement and tech-enabled efficiency while supporting recruitment and onboarding. You will work in a small team within the Investment Group, gain exposure to social impact investing, and contribute to the Foundations of Social Investment
Better Society Capital (BSC) is the UK’s leading social impact-led investor, founded in 2012 with a mission to grow the amount of money invested in tackling social issues and inequalities across the United Kingdom. The organisation operates by investing its own capital while simultaneously enabling others to invest for impact, demonstrating that impact investing can scale when social outcomes and investment opportunity are genuinely aligned. Since its establishment, BSC has helped grow the UK’s social impact investment market from a nascent sector to more than £11 billion, a thirteenfold increase, proving the viability and scalability of the impact investment model. BSC has committed more than £1 billion of its own capital to social impact investments and maintains a live portfolio of over 100 investments, primarily with fund managers across the United Kingdom. These investments span both early-stage and mature positions, with all fund managers working towards lasting and measurable impact for the people and communities they serve. The organisation’s portfolio approach reflects its deep expertise in identifying and nurturing investments that generate both financial returns and positive social outcomes. Currently, BSC is delivering its 2026–2030 strategy, which aims to mobilise between £20–30 billion in capital to positively impact 15–20 million lives across the UK over the next decade. The organisation has strategically focused its expertise and capital on four key challenge areas: housing, economic opportunity, climate and energy, and health. These areas were selected because each combines urgent social need, proven investment models, and a clear role for BSC to play in scaling solutions. This represents the next chapter of BSC’s evolution, building on proven successes since 2012 while scaling with greater ambition and sharper focus. The organisation is actively seeking talented individuals who want to help shape how the UK tackles its most pressing social challenges through impact investing.
This role sits at the heart of Better Society Capital’s Investment Group. Together with the Project Manager – Investment, the successful candidate will form a small investment office that runs the rhythm behind investment decisions and keeps the Investment Group operating smoothly. Approximately 70% of time will be dedicated to investment office operations, with the remaining 30% focused on change and project initiatives. The investment office component involves coordinating BSC’s annual investment calendar and governance cycles, managing workflows from the Investment and Performance Committee through to the Board and Portfolio Progress Meetings with fund managers. The role requires tracking investment requirements, producing management information, and supporting team operations including diary management, recruitment, and onboarding. The successful candidate will maintain the Investment Group’s relationship information across key platforms including Salesforce CRM, Notion, and the company intranet. As BSC adopts new technology, including artificial intelligence, and modernises its investment process, the successful candidate will play a key role in rolling out new tools and ways of working across the Investment Group. This includes supporting the adoption of new technology and helping colleagues use it effectively while identifying opportunities where technology can improve operational efficiency. The role also includes project managing BSC’s twice-yearly Foundations of Social Investment Programme, an internal and external initiative that builds knowledge and networks across the social investment sector. This position suits someone who is highly organised, quick to adopt new tools, and enjoys making systems work better. It offers the opportunity to build a career in project management while gaining deep insight into social impact investment, with increasing project responsibility as the candidate develops in the role.
