Job summary

Taylor Woodrow is recruiting a Project Manager (Utilities) to join our JV team delivering the Norwich to Tilbury 400 kV transmission connection as part of the Great Grid Partnership Framework. Based out of Bury St Edmunds, you will oversee utility activities across the project, ensuring protection, diversion and delivery align with programme and budget.

• Identify and manage change, reporting issues to the client.
• Ensure works comply with HS&E legislation and site plans.
• Maintain adherence to budget, quality and safety standards.

Job description

Taylor Woodrow is recruiting for a Project Manager (Utilities) to join our JV team working on Norwich to Tilbury project which is part of the Great Grid Partnership Framework.

Norwich to Tilbury project consists of delivering a 400 kilovolt (kV) electricity transmission connection for approximately 180 kilometres from the Norwich Main substation via Bramford substation, a new East Anglia Connection Node (EACN) Substation and a new Tilbury North Substation.

Based out of Bury St Edmunds, the Project Manager will lead and coordinate all utility-related activities across the entire project, ensuring utilities are identified, managed, protected, diverted, and delivered in line with programme, budget, safety, and stakeholder requirements.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and lead a team of Utility Engineers / Coordinators managing safe working on site around utilities, including ensuring permits to correct standard and access routes agreed with utility companies
• Liaise with Utility companies to agree protection measures and diversion requirements for the project
• Plan and prioritise diversions of utilities to suit construction programme, agreeing programmes with utility companies and monitoring progress
• Engage with other contractors within GGP and Client to ensure a joined up approach to the programme of works.
• Work with the commercial team to put together budgets for utility works.
• Identify and manage change including scope and programme issues, raising early warnings and liaison with Client.
• Production of information required schedules & subsequent monitoring
• Ensure that the works are undertaken in accordance with all HS&E legislation, and the site Health Safety and Environmental Plans.
• Maintain strict adherence to the budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards
• Communicate effectively with the contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project
• Decide on solutions to major issues and challenges
