Job summary

Global Wind Service seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead wind turbine service and maintenance projects from mobilisation to delivery and close-out. You will own end-to-end execution, coordinating technicians, site teams, customers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant and commercially sound outcomes.

The role requires practical leadership in a high-risk environment, balancing priorities, weather constraints and turbine uptime while building trusted client relationships

Qualifications

• At least three years of progressive project management experience within wind energy.

Job description

Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead wind turbine service and maintenance projects from mobilisation through delivery, close-out and continuous improvement. You will take end-to-end responsibility for safe, compliant and commercially sound execution, coordinating technicians, site teams, customers, vendors and subcontractors to deliver planned and corrective maintenance scopes efficiently.

This role suits a practical, visible leader who understands the operational realities of wind turbine maintenance, including changing priorities, technical constraints, weather and access considerations, resource availability and the importance of turbine uptime. You will maintain a regular site presence, build trusted customer relationships and begin every day with safety at the forefront.

Key responsibilities

• Lead service and maintenance projects from contract handover and mobilisation through execution, demobilisation, close-out and lessons learned.
• Plan and coordinate preventive, corrective and campaign maintenance activities, balancing customer priorities, turbine availability, safety, quality, cost and schedule.
• Own project scope, programme, budget, forecast and commercial performance; monitor variances and implement timely corrective actions.
• Translate contractual and technical requirements into practical delivery plans, work packages, resource plans and site-specific arrangements.
• Coordinate technicians, supervisors, specialist resources, equipment, tooling, vessels or access solutions, materials, vendors and subcontractors.
• Work closely with technical teams to manage defects, troubleshooting, component exchange and return-to-service activities, escalating risks and constraints appropriately.
• Ensure work is delivered in accordance with contracts, customer requirements, local legislation, company procedures and applicable wind-industry standards.
• Champion a strong safety culture through visible leadership, site engagement, effective planning and disciplined use of risk assessments, method statements, permits and toolbox talks.
• Maintain complete and accurate project documentation, including plans, progress reports, maintenance records, cost trackers, change controls, handover packs and close-out documentation.
• Provide clear, regular reporting to customers and internal stakeholders on progress, safety, quality, risk, resource demand, budget and delivery outlook.
• Build effective customer relationships, manage expectations, resolve delivery issues and identify opportunities to improve service quality and future collaboration.
• Carry out pre-start site reviews and coordinate site-specific requirements such as welfare, accommodation, logistics, inductions, access and subcontractor arrangements.
• Monitor team and supplier performance, address delivery gaps and capture lessons learned to strengthen future maintenance planning and execution.

Experience and qualifications

• At least three years of progressive project management experience within wind energy, with direct exposure to service, maintenance, operations or asset support environments.
• Demonstrable experience delivering multi-disciplinary maintenance scopes involving field technicians, customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Good technical understanding of wind turbine systems and maintenance activities, ideally across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control-system interfaces.
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, schedules, risks, changes, documentation and customer reporting.
• Proven commitment to safe delivery in a high-risk operational environment; experience leading or reinforcing a proactive safety culture is essential.
• Relevant technical, engineering, operational or project management qualification. A recognised project management certification is advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and project planning or project management systems.
• Fluent written and spoken English. Additional European language capability is advantageous.
• Willingness and ability to travel to project and customer sites, including up to 30 days per year.
