Job summary

Fawkes & Reece, Cardiff-based, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead renewable energy and electrical installation projects across Wales and England. The role starts as temporary-to-permanent with day-rate during the interim phase, moving to £50k–£60k per year on permanency.

You will manage projects from planning to handover, coordinating subcontractors and stakeholders while ensuring safety, budgets and programmes are met.

Job description

Fawkes & Reece are working with a Cardiff-based client operating within the renewable energy sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing renewable energy and electrical installation projects across Wales and England. This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager with experience within renewable energy, electrical installations, or associated technologies to join an expanding business with excellent long-term prospects.

The role will initially be offered on a temporary-to-permanent basis, with the successful candidate paid on a day-rate basis initially, before transitioning onto a permanent salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will oversee projects from initial planning and mobilisation through to completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Projects may include a range of renewable energy and electrical systems, including:

  • Photovoltaic (PV) systems, including roof-mounted, in-roof and solar farm installations.
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
  • Electrical installations and associated infrastructure.
  • Coordination of subcontractors, engineers, suppliers and other project stakeholders.
  • Project planning, scheduling and resource management.
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and commercial performance.
  • Ensuring projects comply with relevant health & safety, quality and environmental requirements.
  • Managing client relationships and providing regular project updates.
  • Identifying and managing project risks, issues and changes.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with specifications, programmes and contractual requirements.
  • Supporting commissioning, handover and close-out activities.

The company operates across the majority of Wales and England, so the successful candidate should be comfortable with some travel to project sites. The role will be based from the company's Cardiff office.

About You

Our client appreciates that candidates may not have experience across every technology listed above. If you have strong Project Management experience and can demonstrate experience across several areas of renewable energy or electrical installation, your application will be considered.

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Solar PV projects, including commercial, industrial or utility-scale installations.
  • Roof-mounted or in-roof solar systems.
  • Solar farms / ground-mounted PV.
  • Battery storage or BESS projects.
  • EV charging infrastructure and installations.
  • Electrical installation projects.
  • Renewable energy or low-carbon technologies.
  • Construction, engineering or M&E project delivery.
  • Managing subcontractors and specialist installation teams.
  • Working across multiple projects and sites simultaneously.
Experience & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience working as a Project Manager within construction, electrical, M&E, engineering or renewable energy environments.
  • Experience managing projects from inception through to completion.
  • Strong understanding of project programmes, budgets, resources and delivery.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
  • Good knowledge of health & safety and construction standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.

A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Wales and England.Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, IOSH, NEBOSH, HNC/HND, NVQ, degree-level qualifications in construction/engineering, or relevant electrical/renewable energy qualifications would be advantageous.

Knowledge of relevant electrical standards, renewable energy technologies and industry regulations would also be beneficial.
