Job summary

Network Rail is seeking an effective project manager to join the Policy and Rail Reform team on a 12‑month secondment or fixed‑term contract. You will develop and drive project plans, manage risks, and ensure delivery in partnership with local rail teams and external partners.

You will lead multi‑partner initiatives, foster senior‑level relationships, monitor budgets, and support governance and reporting requirements. Flexible/hybrid working arrangements are considered to support delivery.

Qualifications

• Relevant successful experience in project management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Detailed knowledge of safety regulations (particularly CDM).
• Team leader capable of motivating the team.
• Commercial and financial understanding and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Managing multi‑partner projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope and budget.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners, including at senior and executive‑level.
• Identifying and managing risks, working with partners to mitigate issues effectively.
• Monitoring budgets, resourcing and governance, and supporting reporting requirements.
• Holding project and policy leads to account for delivery of outcomes.
• The role will also support the management of wider activity in the Policy and Rail Reform team.
