Job description

RSK Group in Hemel Hempstead, England, is seeking an Investigation Engineer within the Materials & Structures department. This is a full-time, permanent role that involves providing specialist inspection, surveying, and investigation services in the built environment, along with consultancy services for public and private sector clients.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting in investigation enquiries and site scoping visits to develop client relationships.
  2. Preparing proposals and reports with team support.
  3. Organizing investigation and testing programs, supervising work, and ensuring timely reporting.
  4. Liaising with clients on inspection/testing programs.
  5. Managing project costs within budgets.
  6. Preparing technical reports and maintaining technical excellence.
  7. Mentoring and guiding engineers and technicians.

Required experience:

  • Engineering or surveying degree, or significant experience.
  • Awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Understanding of defect investigation, materials testing, and interpretation of standards and legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong technical, mathematical, and practical skills.
  • Ability to lead projects and teams.
  • Full UK driving license.

Candidates should be prepared to work on-site and at the office, with training provided for railway environments, working at heights, and confined spaces. Physical fitness is required for manual handling and testing activities. Occasional travel within the UK and overseas may be necessary.

Salary and benefits:

  • Up to £42,000 depending on experience.
  • Contributory pension scheme, flexible benefits including holidays and private health care, and regular training.
