Job description

his is a rare opportunity to plan, manage and deliver construction projects in the national interest. Everything we build makes a real difference to the security of the UK, and to people who help keep this country safe. With budgets of around £2-£5m, you’ll develop innovative solutions to realise complex projects with lasting impact. Along the way, you’ll also build strong relationships with colleagues, contractors and customers.

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more.

Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we’re on. In our world, it all matters.

Whether we’re deploying Wi-Fi globally to government buildings, delivering security infrastructure to the world’s most isolated areas or undertaking seismic strengthening on historical embassies, every project needs a plan. That’s where our Project Management team shines. They deliver projects end-to-end, considering every single detail to deliver quality on time and on budget. And now, you’ve got the opportunity to join them.

Drafting big plans for bigger projects.

Delivering results as a team.

Turning designs into reality.

It all matters.

Deliver construction projects that help keep the UK safe

Our construction projects are varied and vital – from completing a highly secure facility for the Ministry of Defence, to building a state-of-the-art embassy in Bangkok. You’ll make sure every facet of every project you lead is delivered to the highest quality standards, on time and within budget. Managing multi-functional teams, your remit will span preparing tender packs, establishing the supply chain, scheduling work packages and milestones, assessing and controlling risk, monitoring resources and applying change management processes. Developing a deep understanding of stakeholder requirements, interests and influences, you’ll plan and deliver a communications strategy that keeps every relevant party informed and satisfied.

Use your full skillset to build what really matters

A qualified project manager, you’ve been responsible for major construction initiatives from inception to completion. You’ve applied project management methodologies in project design, development and implementation. And you’re familiar with health, safety and welfare regulations including CDM2015. Crucially, you’ll bring to the role specific understanding and experience of NEC3/4, GC works, and FIDIC contracts and documentation. You are skilled in managing resources, stakeholders, contracts, costs and risks – and you’re enthusiastic to put your skills to work in the national interest.

Grow your career with full support

Working with us you’ll help keep people, information, and assets safe around the world. It’s a role you can feel proud of; and we aim to make every part of your career just as rewarding. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It’s a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.

Want to see your future team’s work in action? Step into our Virtual Embassy and select a guide to take you round – we suggest Delivering programmes and projects across the embassy – to see how the team delivers for government customers and how you could help. Explore the embassy now at virtual-embassy.fcdoservicescareers.co.uk

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website: https://www.fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world

The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
