Civil & Structural Assembly Manager

Location: National, Dartford, Manchester, London, Nottingham, Cambridge, Bristol, Wales and other locations considered. Travel required.

Laing O'Rourke is delivering some of the UK's most complex and transformative infrastructure projects. We're looking for a Civil Assembly Manager to join our team on a groundbreaking nuclear programme, starting from the earliest stages of design through to site delivery.

You'll play a key role in a major nuclear build-blending modular construction, advanced manufacturing, and collaborative digital workflows in a multi-disciplinary environment that pushes the boundaries of civil engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Construction Assembly Lead in developing and coordinating the plant assembly plan (methods, sequence, and documentation).
  • Coordinate civil assembly activities across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and stakeholder teams.
  • Contribute to build schedule development, 4D modelling, site logistics, and design integration.
  • Track and report progress, support administration, and manage deliverables for the civil assembly scope.
  • Assist the Chief Design Engineer in delivering value-engineered, cost-effective solutions.
  • Delivery planning, optioneering, construction sequencing, methods engineering
  • Working in Civil & Structural off-site methods, excavations, tunnelling, marine and more
  • Reviewing buildability
  • Liaising with design partners
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
  • Degree in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering field.
  • 8+ years in technical/operational project roles.
  • Proven experience across design, construction, and delivery partnerships.
Desirable:
  • Strong knowledge of traditional and modern construction methods, especially MMC.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and technical communication.
  • Proficient in technical writing and reporting.
Preferred:
  • Chartered status (ICE, CIOB, IStructE, IET).
  • Nuclear or regulated sector experience.
  • Digital literacy and awareness of construction tech tools.

  • Curious with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of HSE legislation.
  • Confident leader with effective influencing skills.
