Job summary

Cambridge-based main contractor is recruiting an experienced Project Manager to lead a £15m theatre extension project. The role requires delivering the scheme from pre-construction through to completion, with full day-to-day responsibility and reporting to a Contracts Manager.

You will oversee site teams, coordinate design, commercial and operations, manage client relationships, and drive health and safety and quality on site. SMSTS/CSCS/First Aid are desirable qualifications.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Project Manager for a main contractor.
• Delivery of £10m–£30m projects or similar scale.
• Experience with complex extensions/refurbishments/new-builds.

£15m Theatre Extension Project | Cambridge Up to £90,000 + Excellent Package 18-Month Programme Immediate Start

An established and highly respected main contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a prestigious £15m theatre extension project in Cambridge.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile cultural scheme that will leave a lasting legacy within the local community. Reporting into a visiting Contracts Manager, you will have full day-to-day responsibility for the successful planning, management and delivery of the project from pre-construction through to completion.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will lead the site team and coordinate all operational aspects of the project, ensuring it is delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overall management of the £15m theatre extension project
• Reporting to and working closely with a visiting Contracts Manager
• Managing Site Managers, Engineers and subcontractors on site
• Developing and maintaining project programmes and key milestones
• Managing client relationships and attending regular progress meetings
• Coordinating design, commercial and operational teams
• Identifying and mitigating project risks
• Driving health & safety performance across the site
• Ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout construction
• Overseeing project delivery through to practical completion and handover

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Project Manager for a recognised main contractor
• Successful delivery of projects in the £10m-£30m range
• Experience of complex extension, refurbishment or new-build projects
• Strong leadership and man-management skills
• Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management abilities
• Good programme management and technical construction knowledge
• SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid qualifications
• Construction-related qualification preferred (HNC/HND/Degree)
