Job summary

Ridge and Partners LLP is expanding its Project Management team within the Water and Regulated Utilities sector in the UK. The role leads small to medium projects from inception to close-out and supports senior colleagues on complex programmes for major water utilities.

You will set up and maintain management plans, monitor performance, and report progress against milestones while ensuring NEC compliance and strong stakeholder engagement across utilities and contractors.

Qualifications

  • Project Delivery: experience managing small to medium-sized projects from inception to close-out.
  • Sector Knowledge: experience in water industry or regulated utilities with governance awareness.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: strong communication and reporting skills for client relationships.
  • Technical Awareness: understanding water infrastructure, CDM and health & safety compliance.
  • Tools: MS Project and Primavera P6; Power BI and SharePoint for reporting and document control.

  • Monitor project performance and communicate deviations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC contract requirements and client governance processes.
  • Engage with stakeholders across utilities, contractors, and internal teams to maintain relationships.

We are expanding our Project Management team within the Water and Regulated Utilities sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to lead and deliver projects that support major UK water utilities and environmental programmes. You will play a key role in delivering small to medium-sized projects and supporting senior colleagues on complex programmes.

What you need to do to be effective in this role
  • Take ownership of small to medium-sized water infrastructure projects from inception to close-out.
  • Lead allocation of actions, track progress, and report against contractual milestones.
  • Support senior project managers on major programmes for clients such as Thames Water, Environment Agency, and other regulated utilities.
  • Set up and maintain project management plans, document control systems, and reporting dashboards.
  • Monitor project performance and proactively communicate deviations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC contract requirements and client governance processes.
  • Engage with stakeholders across utilities, contractors, and internal teams to maintain strong relationships.
The skills and experience you need to have for this role
  • Project Delivery: 3-5 years’ experience managing small to medium-sized projects from inception to close-out, including planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting.
  • Sector Knowledge: Experience working in the water industry or with regulated utilities, with awareness of governance requirements, compliance standards, and sector-specific delivery models.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to manage client relationships effectively.
  • Technical Awareness: Understanding of water infrastructure projects and regulatory requirements, including CDM and Health & Safety compliance.
  • Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management platforms (e.g. MS Project, Primavera P6), with familiarity in reporting tools such as Power BI and document control systems like SharePoint.
Additional Experience That Would Be Beneficial Includes
  • Consultancy-side project management experience.
  • Previous involvement in Environment Agency or water utility projects.
  • Basic understanding of design management and NEC contract administration.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Project Management, or related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent.
  • Working towards chartership (ChPP, CEng, MRICS) is desirable.
