Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Junior Project Manager to support the planning, coordination and delivery of sensitive defence and security projects from Reading on a hybrid basis.

You will work under the guidance of senior project and programme managers on MOD and aerospace programmes, developing plans, tracking progress and maintaining documentation while engaging stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Active Security Check (SC) clearance is mandatory; DV clearance is preferred.
• Experience supporting projects in MOD, Defence Digital, aerospace or defence/security.
• Familiar with PM principles and delivery methods: Agile, Waterfall and hybrid.
• PRINCE2 knowledge or Foundation level certification.
• Strong organisational, time-management and coordination abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficient with MS Office and PM tools such as MS Project, Jira, Trello or Azure DevOps.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

Our client is seeking a Junior Project Manager to support the planning, coordination and delivery of sensitive projects across the defence and security sector. Based in Reading on a hybrid working basis, the role will involve supporting MOD and aerospace programmes while working under the guidance of senior project and programme managers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the development of project plans, schedules and resource allocations
• Track progress against milestones, deliverables and agreed project objectives
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including RAID logs, status reports and action trackers
• Support stakeholder communications across technical teams, business users and suppliers
• Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and record actions and decisions
• Identify and escalation project risks, issues and potential delays
• Assist with monitoring project budgets, resource utilisation, purchase orders and invoices
• Support governance, audit and compliance requirements in line with project management standards

Job Requirements:

• Active Security Check (SC) clearance is mandatory; current Developed Vetting (DV) clearance is preferred
• Experience supporting projects within MOD, Defence Digital, aerospace or wider defence and security environments
• Understanding of project management principles and delivery methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall and hybrid approaches
• Agile Project Management Practitioner knowledge or certification
• PRINCE2 knowledge or certification, ideally at Foundation level
• Strong organisational, time-management and coordination skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with confidence engaging stakeholders
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with familiarity using MS Project, Jira, Trello or Azure DevOps
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team
