Job summary

VolkerWessels UK (via VolkerLaser) is seeking a Project Manager to join the Major Projects division, covering secured projects across the Midlands, South West & South Wales. Initial works involve restoration on the Newport Transporter Bridge (blasting & painting) for a few months.

The role will suit someone who enjoys field leadership and road-based work. The successful candidate will manage safety, quality and delivery, coordinate site teams and supply chain, and report to stakeholders

Qualifications

• Technical qualification in civil engineering or related field.
• Experience in concrete/steel repair and restoration projects.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Overall accountability for safe, compliant project delivery.
• Set strategy, plans, programmes and delivery standards.
• Own programme, cost, quality and HSE performance.

About The Role

We have an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Major Projects division to cover secured projects across the Midlands, South West & South Wales. However, initial project would be restoration work at the Newport Transporter Bridge, on a blasting and painting contract for a few months.

This presents a fantastic opportunity for someone with the relevant experience to join a growing contractor with a busy pipeline of work. The role will suit someone located in South Wales or West Midlands, who likes to be on the road.

Key Responsibilities

• Overall accountability for safe, compliant and successful project delivery
• Set project strategy, plans, programmes and delivery standards
• Own programme, cost, quality and HSE performance
• Set delivery strategy and manage risks, change and recovery
• Lead site teams and supply chain to right-first-time delivery
• Control budgets, resources and commercial outcomes
• Manage client, stakeholder and internal reporting
• Ensure technical, design and temporary works compliance
• Drive company values, team development and positive culture

About You

• Technical qualification (example Degree in civil engineering or HND)
• Experience within concrete and steel repair
• Somer exposure on blasting and painting contracts
• Proven technical and project management abilities
• Strong organisational and management skills
• Knowledge of the requirements and implementation of CDM regulations
• Ability to produce Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, and implement safe systems of work
• Detailed knowledge of Safety, Quality and Environmental issues relevant to the project environment
