Joinery Project Manager Leicestershire 55,000 P/ a
Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in manufacturing, engineering, joinery, fit-out or a similar project-led environment?
We are supporting an established and growing manufacturing business looking to recruit a Project Manager to take ownership of projects from initial estimate and design through to manufacture, delivery and installation.
This is a hands-on role where you will manage the complete project lifecycle, working closely with customers, suppliers, CAD/design, purchasing and production to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
The Role
- Manage multiple projects from initial handover through design, manufacture, delivery and installation.
- Take responsibility for project budgets, timescales, quality and overall delivery.
- Act as the main point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend client and site meetings where required.
- Carry out site surveys, including final measurements, templating and reviewing construction details.
- Coordinate all relevant project documentation and ensure information is accurately maintained within the company's ERP system.
- Brief internal CAD Designers and ensure drawings accurately reflect customer and manufacturing requirements.
- Work closely with Production to establish practical, cost-effective and efficient manufacturing methods.
- Coordinate purchasing requirements and act as the link between customer requirements, internal purchasing and the external supply chain.
- Liaise with material suppliers, subcontractors and installation teams.
- Produce or support CNC drawings, cutting lists and other manufacturing information where required.
- Track project expenditure and ensure any additional costs, design hours or variations are agreed and commercially recovered.
- Produce quotations for specification changes and revisions to live projects.
- Support the Estimating team with quotations during busy periods.
- Prepare relevant Health & Safety documentation and O&M manuals.
- Ensure project amendments and commercial changes are accurately reflected within the ERP system.
- Lead post-project profitability reviews, analysing actual costs against budget and identifying reasons for any variations.
- Ensure projects are completed to a high standard and to the satisfaction of all parties.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Project Engineer or similar role within a manufacturing or project-led environment.
You should ideally have:
- Experience managing projects from initial concept/order through to manufacture and installation.
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments.
- The ability to understand technical drawings and communicate effectively with CAD/design teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project costs, budgets and variations.
- Experience dealing directly with customers and managing client expectations.
- Experience coordinating suppliers, subcontractors and purchasing requirements.
- The confidence to carry out site surveys and take accurate measurements.
- Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across design, production, purchasing and commercial teams.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems would be advantageous.
- Experience within joinery, furniture, interiors, fit-out, construction products, bespoke manufacturing, fabrication or engineered products would be particularly relevant.
