Job summary

Safran in Wolverhampton is seeking a Project Manager to lead aerospace actuation programmes across the full lifecycle. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure delivery against customer commitments, quality standards, cost targets and schedules.

The role requires delivering innovative and reliable aerospace solutions in a high-technology environment. You will engage with customers, manage risks, and drive continuous improvement in a global leader in aerospace.

Qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace/defence or high-value manufacturing environments.
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing and supply chain.
  • Proven track record delivering programmes on time, to budget, with quality.
  • Excellent communication at all levels and with external customers.
  • Understanding of aerospace regulatory frameworks (AS9100).

  • Lead cross-functional programme teams across Engineering, Industrialisation, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality.
  • Manage scope, schedule, cost, risk and resources to meet milestones and commitments.
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders, providing regular progress updates.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks, implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace regulatory requirements and company governance.
  • Monitor and report programme performance and progress.

Your Role

Responsible for leading the delivery of aerospace actuation system programmes across the full product lifecycle, ensuring achievement of customer, quality, cost, schedule, and regulatory requirements. Working with cross-functional teams and customers, you will drive programme execution, manage risks and performance, and ensure successful delivery of innovative and reliable aerospace solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional programme teams across Engineering, Industrialisation, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to achieve programme objectives.
  • Manage programme scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resource plans to ensure delivery against agreed milestones and customer commitments.
  • Act as the primary interface with customers and key stakeholders, providing regular updates on programme performance and progress.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate programme risks and issues, implementing corrective actions to maintain delivery targets.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace regulatory requirements, company processes, and governance standards throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Monitor and report programme performance
What You'll Bring
Essential
  • Demonstrated experience in project management within an aerospace, defence, or high-value manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of industrial and manufacturing processes, including production readiness and lifecycle delivery
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder environments
  • Experience managing project performance across cost, schedule, quality, and risk
  • Structured and methodical approach to planning, governance, and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels
  • Understanding of aerospace standards and regulatory frameworks (e.g. AS9100)
Desirable
  • Experience with actuation systems, electromechanical or hydraulic equipment
  • Formal project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, APMP)
  • Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI) and industrialisation phases
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and project management tools
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
