A leading technology firm, Conker, seeks a Project Manager to oversee a skilled team in delivering critical projects for top-tier clients. This role provides a chance to make impactful decisions while working remotely with occasional visits to Nottingham. Ideal candidates possess strong management skills, experience in tech environments, and a commitment to quality.
We are looking for an ambitious, motivated, tech-savvy, Project Manager. Reporting initially to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for managing a small and highly skilled team of designers, programmers, testers.
We are a long-established business working with some of the best food and drink businesses, such as Carlsberg, Britvic and Mondelez.You will have the opportunity to make your mark from the start on challenging but rewarding projects, many of which are mission-critical to our customers.
Our platform is AWS for pretty much everything, and Google for office tools - the only Windows will be on your laptop (or maybe you’ll choose a Mac). We work with unusually large datasets and our systems have to deliver outputs extremely quickly, so ‘optimisation’ is an over-worked word at Conker. We need to ensure we always optimise not just the database queries, but the whole way of working.
Following the recent expansion of our board of directors we are looking to scale the business beyond the UK. Your role as ‘conductor of the orchestra’ will be pivotal in making this a reality!
We are a distributed team and to help with ‘bonding’ we meet up in full four times a year, staying one or two nights - recent venues have included Manchester and Berlin.

Managing priorities and deadlines
Making informed choices when prioritising the use of tight resources to stick to deadlines
Ensuring adherence to systems and processes in collaboration with our Team Leader
Making sure there are no shortcuts being taken in essential tasks such as testing and design - always prioritising quality
Ensuring documentation is up to date and kept in the right place
Recommending new systems and approaches in collaboration with our Team Leader, thus keeping the team's efficiency and productivity at high levels
Guiding future expansion in collaboration with our Team Leader, both regarding (near) future product releases and new partnerships
Fluent in English (no need to be native) and with good writing skills - there will be a lot of customer contact, mainly written but also video calls and occasionally f2f
Who we think you might be
You've worked in at least one tech company, ideally a start-up
You have people management skills and experience of working directly with coders
You’re smart and intellectually curious
You’re able to explain complex concepts in concise, simple, terms
You can talk about your organisational and time-management skills
You live in the Nottingham area, or can easily be in Nottingham when needed
You’d want your next car to be an EV (or a bike)
You love biscuits
