Job description

A large Civil Engineering Contractor with a 134 million turnover is looking for a Project Manager to oversee projects in and around Chesterfield, Sheffield, Leeds, and Middlesbrough areas. They offer a variety of excellent work and lifestyle benefits, along with a competitive salary of up to 75,000. The client aims to conduct interviews quickly for this position.

The Project Manager should be at least degree qualified with significant experience in Heavy Civils and Tunnelling, including NEC experience in delivering TBM projects and civils contracts. The role requires the ability to independently manage projects with minimal assistance from the Project Director.

Project Manager Job Overview

• Ensure the site operates safely and efficiently, maintaining the highest standards.
• Maximise contract performance by driving efficiencies and controlling costs.
• Develop procurement schedules and work closely with the procurement team to ensure resource availability.
• Provide accurate project forecasting and keep the team informed of updates.
• Manage work proactively, with contingency plans and resources in place.
• Identify and report risks and opportunities, offering mitigation and capitalisation strategies.
• Deliver work to quality standards, aiming for defect-free results.
• Oversee production of project documentation including Project Plans, RAMS, ITPs, and Waste Management Plans.
• Maintain detailed site diaries and records for transparency and traceability.

Project Manager Job Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Experience managing Tunnelling and Shaft projects.
• Experience with Tunnel Boring Machines.
• Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget, even with challenging clients.
• Commercial awareness with knowledge of standard contracts and measurement.
• Proficiency in NEC3 Option A & C contracts and change management.
• Experience in Design Management, Programme, and Risk Management.
• Experience producing CVRs, including cost control and forecasting.
• Strong communication skills, including presentation and negotiation abilities.
• SMSTS certification.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including the Work at Height Regulations, LOLER, PUWER, and Confined Space Regulations.
