Qualifications

• NRSWA Supervisor Card and SMSTS are required health and safety credentials.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent considered essential.
• GCSE 4/C or higher or relevant industry experience.
• SCO qualifications and National Water Hygiene Card desirable.

Job description

The Project Manager is accountable and responsible for the management and motivation of multidisciplined operational teams and subcontractors. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the delivery team is effective in works planning, that the site is ready for construction, and the materials and plant have been ordered on time. This will include the management of customer relations, programmes of work, staff and contractors ensuring that networks are built safely, to the correct specification and to the Groups, asset owners and Client satisfaction in a cost-effective manner.

• Lead and manage multi-disciplinary operational teams and subcontractors to deliver projects safely, compliantly, on time and within budget.
• Act as the primary client contact, leading site meetings and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
• Develop, manage and monitor project programmes, including critical path planning and forecasting.
• Ensure all SHEQ, operational and project documentation is completed accurately and submitted within required timescales.
• Ensure sites are fully prepared for construction, with labour, plant and materials available as required.
• Oversee the safe and compliant construction of network assets in accordance with approved designs, specifications and industry standards.
• Manage direct labour and subcontractors to achieve productivity, quality and performance targets.
• Monitor project costs, budgets and resources to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.
• Manage project variations and changes, ensuring accurate documentation and communication.
• Maintain accurate records of project progress, site activities and asset information.
• Provide technical guidance and support to clients, contractors and internal teams.
• Lead incident investigations and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company, client and regulatory standards.
• Manage the performance, competency and development of direct reports and contractors.
• Work closely with the PMO and wider business to drive continuous improvement and successful project delivery.
• Proven Project Management experience within the utilities, multi-utility, civil engineering or energy sectors.
• Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling and programme management using Microsoft Project.
• Experience managing operational teams, subcontractors and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, quality and environmental requirements within utility or construction environments.
• Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, costs and project performance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Training

• NRSWA Supervisor Card.
• SMSTS qualification.
• NEBOSH Construction Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety qualification.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project.
• GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) or relevant industry experience.
• SCO qualifications, SHEA Gas/Water/Power and National Water Hygiene Card desirable.
