Job summary

SMS Group in Portsmouth is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects from planning through to completion, ensuring safety, on-time delivery and budget adherence. The role is based in Portsmouth with travel as required and SC clearance consideration.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in the marine sector, strong project management skills, and be proficient with MS Project and MS Excel. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in marine industry.
• Proven project management experience.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Must be willing to travel and hold a Full UK driving licence.
• Willing to obtain full SC clearance (UK Nationals).

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate projects, supervising production staff and subcontractors.
• Plan and monitor project programmes, costs, labour, materials, and equipment.
• Track budgets and report progress and risks to senior management.
• Procure materials and plant to ensure uninterrupted delivery.
• Liaise with customers to manage expectations and project requirements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
• Prepare and manage SHE and quality documentation, including final quality packs.
• Visit sites to survey works and support quotations when required.

40 hours per week

We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team in Portsmouth. You’ll be responsible for managing projects from planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
