Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is recruiting a Project Manager for a world-class manufacturing client in Peterborough. The role is site-based, 12‑month contract, paying £28.75–£30.75 per hour PAYE, with Mon-Thu 08:30–16:45 and Fri 08:30–16:15.

You will lead projects from concept to completion and report to the Senior Leadership Team. You will develop schedules in MS Project, manage budgets and risks, mentor project leaders, and collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Degree or 3–5 years in project management.
• Background in engineering, manufacturing, product development or R&D.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Proficient in Microsoft Project and Excel.
• Prince2, PMP or equivalent qualifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead allocated projects from concept to completion, on time and on budget.
• Develop and maintain resource-loaded schedules using MS Project.
• Manage budgets, cost tracking, risk registers and scope changes.
• Facilitate meetings and drive integration with teams.
• Produce reports for Senior Leadership on progress and performance.
• Mentor project leaders and build stakeholder relationships.
• Learn client project accounting systems to produce financial reports.

Location: Peterborough (Fully Site-Based)

Pay Rate: £28.75 - £30.75 PAYE per hour

Contract: 12 months

Working Hours: Mon to Thur 08:30 - 16:45, Fri 08:30 - 16:15

This position offers an exciting opportunity to gain exposure across multiple business areas and manage a diverse portfolio of projects. You will be part of a dynamic department; comprising project planning professionals and project managers, who collectively support over 50 projects both internally and externally

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading allocated projects from the concept stage right through to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery.
• Developing and maintaining accurate, resource-loaded project schedules using Microsoft Project.
• Managing project and programme budgets, cost tracking, risk registers, and scope change requests.
• Facilitating project meetings, leading chartering sessions, and driving integration and compression sessions with both internal and external teams.
• Producing timely reports to communicate project progress and performance to the Senior Leadership Team.
• Motivating team members, mentoring project leaders, and building strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
• Learning the client's specific project accounting systems to produce related financial reports.

What We Are Looking For

A college or university degree is required, or alternatively, 3-5 years of progressively related experience in the project management field. The client requires a minimum of 3+ years' experience.

We are ideally looking for candidates with a background in engineering, manufacturing, product development, or R&D environments.

Strong communication skills, proven indirect leadership and stakeholder management experience, and excellent Microsoft Project and Excel skills

Prince 2, PMP, or equivalent qualifications are highly desired, as is previous project resource loading and portfolio cost management experience.
