Project Manager
Overview

We are seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of multiple manufacturing projects, including containers, enclosures, and plant-room ventilation systems serving the power generation industry. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, bespoke projects ranging in value from £10K to £5M and beyond. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest technical and quality standards.

Responsibilities

As a Project Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

Project Lifecycle Ownership
  • Taking full ownership of projects from customer order through design, approvals, manufacture, delivery, installation, fit-out, testing, commissioning, and final acceptance.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, managing expectations, resolving issues, and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project programmes, identifying key milestones, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Conducting site surveys to capture dimensions, interfaces, and technical information, ensuring issued drawings align with site conditions.
  • Preparing detailed site-specific risk assessments and method statements to ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
  • Managing internal teams and attending site as required to monitor progress, resolve issues, and secure final customer sign-off.
Specialist Sub-Contractor Management
  • Managing specialist subcontractors responsible for M&E fit-out, testing, and site installation.
  • Coordinating inspection and test plans, factory and site acceptance activities, and commissioning records.
  • Ensuring all handover documentation and outstanding actions are completed before final acceptance.
Commercial Responsibilities
  • Taking ownership of the financial performance of projects, maintaining and improving gross profit without compromising quality or safety.
  • Managing budgets, cost forecasting, change control, cashflow, and payment applications.
  • Monitoring progress and controlling costs through collaboration with production and procurement teams.
  • Identifying non-conformances and leading lessons-learned discussions to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrable experience delivering engineered-to-order manufacturing projects from design through installation and commissioning, ideally within the power generation sector.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure, customer-facing environment.
  • Strong understanding of contract administration, variations, and change management.
  • Commercial awareness and financial acumen.
  • Proficiency in project planning software such as Microsoft Project.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
Day-to-Day

Your typical day will involve:

  • Coordinating with customers, internal teams, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project progression.
  • Monitoring project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Conducting site visits to assess conditions and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Preparing and reviewing project documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, and progress reports.
  • Leading meetings with stakeholders to discuss project updates and address challenges.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations and maintaining high standards of quality.
Benefits
  • Opportunity to work on diverse, bespoke projects within the power generation industry.
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • The chance to make a tangible impact on high-value, complex projects.
