Job summary

Scottish Environment Protection Agency is recruiting a full-time Project Manager on a permanent basis in Scotland. You will lead projects delivering improved processes and services while managing budgets, risks, dependencies and stakeholder expectations.

The role emphasises Prince2/Agile credentials and strong communication, planning and analytical skills to realise project benefits. SEPA supports flexible, hybrid working and staff wellbeing.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience or qualification equivalent to SCQF Level 8-10.
  • PRINCE2 practitioner or equivalent project management accreditation/experience (Agile, Scrum).
  • Strong risk management, analytical, planning, budget management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills; practical experience using MS Project, Planner, Lists and/or Excel.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Managing projects that deliver new or improved processes, services and systems contributing to SEPA objectives.
  • Working with project sponsor/service owners to define and realise benefits, scope and resources.
  • Developing and maintaining project management documentation and plans, managing schedules, costs and quality.
  • Managing risks, issues, dependencies and change requests; supporting procurement and governance.
  • Overseeing delivery of project tasks, ensuring milestones are met and escalating obstacles.

  • Managing projects that deliver new or improved processes, services and systems that contribute directly to the achievement of SEPA objectives
  • Working with Project sponsor/service owners to define and realise benefits, scope and resources
  • Developing and maintaining project management documentation and plans, managing project schedules, costs and quality, while tracking and reporting progress against agreed plans and objectives
  • Managing risks, issues, dependencies and change requests. Supporting related activities such as procurement and governance considerations
  • Overseeing delivery of project tasks, ensuring milestones are met, managing project team meetings and initiation corrective action to resolve or escalating obstacles
Respect for your expertise

This is a highly important role within our Evidence & Water Resilience portfolio, which means you’ll need:

  • Relevant experience or qualification equivalent to SCQF Level 8-10
  • Prince 2 practitioner or equivalent project management accreditation /experience (Agile, Scrum)
  • Strong risk management experience, as well as strong analytical, planning, budget management and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with practical experience using Microsoft Project, Planner, Microsoft Lists and / or Excel to manage schedules, tasks, and project activities
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills, as well as Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills
