At Quartzelec, we're delivering vital infrastructure projects that help keep communities connected and powered. We're looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of low voltage distribution cable upgrade projects across our Utilities business.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of multiple projects from inception through to completion, managing operational delivery, financial performance, customer relationships, and team development. You'll play a key role in maintaining our reputation for safe, high-quality project delivery while driving profitability and continuous improvement.

Working within established framework contracts for DNO and private sector clients, you'll lead multidisciplinary teams, manage subcontractors, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full responsibility for project planning, execution, monitoring, and completion.
  • Manage project budgets, P&L performance, cash flow, and commercial outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and operational teams.
  • Monitor project performance, identify risks, and implement solutions where required.
  • Manage operational resource levels and project programmes to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Oversee subcontractor performance across civil, construction, and specialist work activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual obligations, and health and safety requirements.
  • Support business growth by identifying opportunities, preparing quotations, and contributing to tender submissions.
  • Lead, coach, and develop operational teams, promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide regular project reporting and performance updates to senior management.

We're looking for a commercially aware and results-driven Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and enjoys leading teams to deliver outstanding outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience in a Project Manager role, ideally within utilities, power distribution, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong commercial understanding with experience managing budgets, profitability, and contractual obligations.
  • Demonstrable experience leading operational teams and managing subcontractors.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and deliver results under pressure.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • SMSTS, SSSTS, or IOSH Managing Safely qualification.
  • Civils experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Personal Attributes
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, influence, and develop teams.
  • Commercially focused with a strong awareness of business performance and profitability.
  • Proactive, organised, and capable of managing competing priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Results-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Collaborative and approachable, with strong interpersonal skills at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable taking ownership and accountability.
  • Willingness to travel as required to support project delivery.
